Inspirational Eco-Scientist

Why are we inspired by Edun Full? Well let's see. In high school Edun started fooling around with a rotating solar panel tracking system. In high school we were fooling around with... boys.

Now in college, Edun's solar panel is an improvement on regular solar panels. She uses bimetallic strips, which are also found in thermostats, to sense temperature changes and her system adjusts the solar panel's angle to optimize energy collection throughout the day — by up to 40%.

If collecting more solar energy isn't enough, Edun's solar panel costs about $20 to make. She tested a prototype in two different villages in Kenya that had never had electricity before!

And our favorite thing about Edun? She's not resting on her laurels. "I can't guarantee that the SunSaluter is my one big idea that's going to change the world" Edun says. "It probably won't be. I am only 19. But I think this is my start to figuring out how to do something to change the world. It's going to take time and making mistakes. It's all part of something new and meaningful and different."

Very impressive.
